DEERFIELD, Ill., April 12, 2005 – Baxter International Inc. (NYSE:BAX) announced today that Sarah S. Prichard, MD, has been named vice president of global medical affairs for the company's Renal business.
Dr. Prichard will be joining Baxter in June, and in her new role will be overseeing all scientific, clinical and medical affairs globally for Baxter's Renal business. She will provide direction on new and emerging trends in management of patients with renal disease, provide input to product development teams in the design of new products, lead the design of clinical trials, and work closely with the company's renal customers and the scientific community worldwide.

This new opportunity now allows her to apply her expertise in even broader ways that we believe will greatly benefit clinicians and patients throughout the world.”
Dr. Prichard, age 54, joins Baxter from McGill University and the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She currently serves as professor of medicine at McGill University and senior physician and director of peritoneal dialysis for the Royal Victoria Hospital. She is a member of the American Society of Nephrology's Dialysis Advisory Committee, Post Graduate Education Committee and Scientific Program Committee. She was president of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) from 2001 through 2004, and currently is serving as president for the North American Chapter, 2005 ISPD Meeting. Dr. Prichard serves on the editorial boards for Peritoneal Dialysis International, the Hong Kong Journal of Nephrology, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and The International Journal of Artificial Organs, and she has served as a member of Baxter's Scientific Advisory Board since 2002. Dr. Prichard currently serves on the Board of Trustees and Audit Committee of Queen's University, as university representative for St. Mary's Hospital Board, and on the governing council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Dr. Prichard received her medical degree from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and has been associated with the Royal Victoria Hospital and McGill University in Montreal in a variety of teaching and physician roles since her medical residency in the 1970s.
